This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

This position requires a minimum of four days per week in the Boston office, excluding time spent traveling for business. Occasional travel is expected.

HarbourVest Partners is looking for an experienced Vice President to join the Private Credit investment team in Boston. The main duties involve sourcing and evaluating investments, portfolio management, and representing HarbourVest externally with both General Partners and Limited Partners. The Private Credit business has a flexible investment mandate across senior debt, junior debt, and equity co-investments across sponsor-backed middle-market companies.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Experience working in private credit and relevant markets

  • Possesses outstanding analytical and critical thinking capabilities

  • Capable of clear written and verbal communication

  • Exhibits strong leadership and team collaboration skills

  • Has strict attention to detail and dedication to excellence

  • Demonstrated capability to handle several tasks efficiently

  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial and willing to help build and grow the credit business

What you will do:

  • Own and drive the investment process (e.g. company due diligence, underwriting, oversight and preparation of investment memos/presentations and financial models, assist in the legal negotiation and closing process)

  • Work with senior team members to source new investment opportunities and establish new GP connections

  • Mentor and support junior investment team members

  • Develop LP-facing skills to help manage fundraising and client service, as needed

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), optional

Experience

  • 6 - 10+ Years of relevant experience in private credit, investment banking, or private equity

Salary Range

$220,000.00 - $240,000.00

This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
