Lydian Energy develops, finances, constructs and operates utility-scale solar, battery storage and hybrid power projects across U.S. markets, backed by private equity firm Excelsior Energy Capital.
Lydian Energy is an independent energy infrastructure platform backed by Excelsior Energy Capital, a private equity fund manager with more than $1.5B in assets under management focused on North American middle-market renewables. The company develops, finances, constructs, and operates utility-scale power infrastructure, spanning solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid assets. Its portfolio comprises 20 utility-scale projects, with solar and storage assets reaching or expected to reach notice to proceed (FNTP) between 2024 and 2028 across high-demand U.S. power markets.
The platform concentrates on ERCOT (Texas), CAISO (California), SPP (Southwest Power Pool), and the WECC (Western Electricity Coordinating Council). Lydian takes projects through the full lifecycle - from site origination and project finance through construction and commercial operation - rather than exiting at development. Execution is carried out by a multidisciplinary team of developers, engineers, financiers, and operators with decades of combined experience moving projects from site to commercial operation.
Founded on a partnership model with landowners, communities, and capital partners, the company has scaled from zero to a full platform in a few years. Operating capability is concentrated on the details that determine whether infrastructure is actually built, a control point relevant to construction and cost risk across the 2024–2028 build-out schedule.
