Analyst- Private Equity

$100k – $120k YearlySan Francisco, California, United States (Hybrid)Full-time1d ago

QIC Private Equity (QPE) is seeking an exceptional Analyst to join its San Francisco office, focused on primary fund and co-investment opportunities across Venture Capital and Private Equity. This role offers direct exposure to a high volume of live investment opportunties across North America, working with leading private equity and venture capital managers. As part of a global investment team, you will gain hands-on experience across the full investment lifecycle, including evaluating co-investments alongside top-tier sponsors and assessing fund commitments across a broad GP landscape.

The role offers a balanced mix of co-investments and fund investing, providing exposure to both company-level underwriting and manager selection. This dual perspective enables you to build pattern recognition across sectors, strategies, and sponsors, while developing a structured approach to investment decision-making.

As a Limited Partner (LP), you will often evaluate opportunities at an advanced stage of the deal process, requiring you to quickly assess investment merit, identify key risks, and form independent views under time constraints.

The Role

As an Analyst, you will be actively involved in evaluating live investment opportunities, often working across multiple deals in parallel. You will support, and over time take ownership of, discrete workstreams during the due diligence process, including financial analysis, commercial assessment, and investment synthesis.

You will review sponsor materials and financial models, perform independent analysis to validate key assumptions, and develop views on investment attractiveness. You will participate in meetings with private equity and venture capital managers and co-investment partners, gaining direct exposure to experienced sponsors. You will be expected to engage actively, capture key insights, and contribute to post-meeting analysis.

The role includes contributing to—and, for strong performers, presenting—investment recommendations to the senior team and Investment Committee. Analysts are expected to take increasing ownership over time, with opportunities to lead aspects of diligence and develop independent investment views.

Given the pace of deal flow, you will need to manage multiple workstreams effectively, prioritize well, and operate with a high degree of accountability. Success in the role requires intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and a proactive, self-starting approach.

You will gain exposure across sectors including technology and software, healthcare, business services, and industrials, reflecting a generalist and opportunistic investment approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support investment due diligence, including performing quantitative and commercial analysis, managing timelines, and synthesizing investment views
  • Draft and contribute to Investment Committee materials, clearly articulating theses, key risks, and recommendations
  • Conduct market, sector, and manager research to inform investment decisions and build perspective across target strategies
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with venture capital and private equity fund managers and co-investment partners, capturing insights and driving follow-up analysis
  • Support portfolio monitoring and client reporting
  • Maintain and improve QPE’s CRM and deal flow systems, ensuring high-quality data and coordinating across the global team

About You

You are a high-performing early-career professional with strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in private markets investing.

You will bring:

  • 1–2 years of experience in management consulting (strategy or PE diligence), investment banking, investing, or a similarly rigorous analytical role
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience reviewing or building financial models and interpreting complex data
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in parallel
  • Comfort leveraging AI and other tools to improve efficiency, enhance analysis, and continuously refine ways of working
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with intellectual curiosity and a willingness to take ownership
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, global team environment

Compensation Range: This position offers a fixed base salary of $100,000 to $120,000 per year, with estimated short-term incentives of approximately 15% above base salary.  Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and qualifications.
