WaterEquity

WaterEquity is an asset manager dedicated to mobilizing private investment for the water and sanitation sector. We invest in financial institutions, enterprises, and infrastructure in emerging and frontier markets delivering safe water and sanitation solutions to low-income communities. Founded by Gary White and Matt Damon of Water.org, WaterEquity builds on decades of experience investing in water and sanitation in emerging markets and uses market-based capital to close funding gaps where public funds fall short. Our work merges mission with disciplined investment processes to scale access to essential services while aiming for responsible returns for investors.

Since its launch in 2016, WaterEquity has raised multiple funds totaling over hundreds of millions of dollars in committed capital, and it remains an SEC-registered investment adviser. We partner with Water.org and invest through financial institutions and infrastructure projects to increase access to safe water and sanitation, improve water quality, and build resilience against climate risks in low-income communities across Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Our strategy prioritizes inclusion, gender equality, and sustainable development by aligning private capital with the water and sanitation needs of underserved populations.

The team emphasizes governance, transparency, and impact measurement, publishing reports on impact and performance. WaterEquity has earned recognition for its investment approach, including awards from environmental finance and impact assets, and continues to expand its reach through innovative funding vehicles like the WaterEquity Everspring Fund and other climate-resilience initiatives. Through this work, the organization seeks to unlock scalable capital, catalyze local market actors, and accelerate universal access to safe water and sanitation - a fundamental step toward healthier, more productive communities.
