POSITION OVERVIEW:

The ideal candidate will collaborate with and support the senior Apollo financials credit analyst, who is part of an internationally diverse, [24]-member team that invests in APAC & Emerging Markets (EM) corporate, financials and sovereign debt. This position requires:

Experience: 2+ years’ experience analyzing the financial statements of banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and non-bank financial companies, including reviewing bond offering documents. Excel skills: Strong Excel skills to build spreadsheets detailing historical financial performance (income statement, balance sheet, liquidity, and regulatory capital), including stress test analysis. LBO modelling is desirable but not mandatory. PowerPoint Skills: Strong PowerPoint skills to support the production of internal and external presentations. Attributes: A self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, and self-starter individual capable of developing extensive knowledge of sectors covered. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with APAC & EM bank and insurance regulations is desirable.

The APAC & EM team bases its investment decisions on credit fundamentals and relative value analysis. Therefore, the position requires previous experience in fundamental credit analysis (bottom-up driven) with a focus on the specific credit skills necessary for understanding banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and non-bank financial companies.

PRIMARY:

The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with the team’s senior financials analyst ("Relevant Analyst"), supporting him in the preparation and maintenance of financial models for all issuers covered by the Relevant Analyst. These models include historical financials and key credit metrics.

  • Collaborate with the Relevant Analyst to build financial forecasts and run stress test analyses for all relevant names using the Apollo’s Common Lens Framework.

  • Stay updated with news in the sectors covered by the Relevant Analyst and prepare a weekly summary of these news events for the Portfolio Manager.

  • Assist team members in researching identifying, originating, and execution of private credit transactions.

  • Have some familiarity with the impact of macroeconomic and political factors on APAC & EM credit investments, reporting these events to the Relevant Analyst as they occur.

  • Be familiar with bank and insurance regulations in the APAC & EM financials sector.

  • Prepare earnings update emails for all names covered by the Relevant Analyst.

  • Assist the Relevant Analyst in preparing credit approval memoranda for new investments and periodic reviews of existing positions.

  • Support the Relevant Analyst in preparing PowerPoint presentations for new deal screening meetings and for investment committee approval meetings.

  • Provide other presentation support on an ad hoc basis.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in financials credit research.

  • Knowledge of:

    • Bottom-up fundamental credit analysis.

    • Challenges and opportunities in the broader financials sector, including some knowledge of regulatory regimes in major Asia & Emerging Markets jurisdictions.

    • Macroeconomics and its impact on corporate credit.

  • Effective written and oral English communications skills.

  • Financial Modelling skills required.

  • Computer Skills: Excel, power point required.

  • Master’s Degree and/or CFA desirable but not mandatory depending on work experience.
