This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, which translates to 3 days minimum per week in the office.
About the Role
Based in the HarbourVest Hong Kong office, this position will be part of the APAC Private Wealth Team, which is responsible for building new and broadening existing relationships with private wealth channels across the region.
This position includes managing existing and developing new relationships and fundraising opportunities primarily in HK and greater China and demands a high degree of collaboration with the global wealth team and colleagues based around the world.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
Possesses a professional network of private wealth relationships in HK and greater China with experience working with GPs and/or distribution partners
Has demonstrated track record of and passion in business development activities, and the ability to close on new and existing clients/prospects and cross sell as part of a solution selling approach
Has in-depth understanding of the private wealth industry and private markets open-ended and close-ended products
Works well independently as well as part of a team
Is willing to travel and make cold calls
What you will do:
Grow our wealth client base in the HK and greater China region
Map, source, develop and manage relationships with existing and new Private Wealth partners such as global/regional/local banks/intermediaries/platforms and asset managers
Strengthen and support the firm’s interactions with existing as well as prospective clients
Understand key competitors' offerings in the region and know how to best position HarbourVest’s products
Plan and execute sponsorships, fund launches, events, etc. to promote HarbourVest’s products and solutions to key stakeholders.
Contribute to product development and onboarding activity as it relates to new clients, product structures or investment vehicles
Work with the Firm’s investment professionals to ensure clients are being met with on a regular basis across different investment strategies
What you bring:
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate in a polished, professional manner
Strong networking and business building experience and skills
Attention to detail, extremely organized, and commitment to excellence. Able to problem solve with a client-focused mindset
Responsive and willing to work to tight deadlines in a challenging environment
Strong private markets knowledge; baseline understanding of product structures
Proficiency in business English – both written and verbal. Fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese will be an advantage
Education Preferred
Bachelor's degree (MBA, Master's and/or CFA preferred) with strong academic background in finance, accounting, economics or a relevant discipline
Experience
10+ years’ experience in institutional and/or private wealth business development and client service or investment consulting
