Job Description

You will join Ares Singapore’s Investment Operations (Middle Office) team, which supports investments across private credit, special situations/distressed, and private equity strategies in Asia from an operational perspective. The team works closely with the investment professionals to provide operational support and oversight across the investment lifecycle.

Reporting to a Vice President/Principal, Investment Operations, this role is central to supporting private credit, special situations, and private equity transactions from an operational perspective, as well as maintaining key centralized controls and processes. You will also work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including investment teams, banking partners, custodians, agents, outsourced service providers, and other professional advisors, as required.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and efficient deal closing/execution support to investments in Asia. Where applicable, provide operational support through the deal lifecycle (e.g. restructuring, reorganization, material corporate actions, enforcements etc.)

  • Provide support in ensuring investing infrastructures in Asia are operationally ready. This includes amongst others – onshore bank account openings (key jurisdictions include India, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand etc.), custodian setups, intermediary/broker platforms, wherever applicable

  • Being a valued business partner to the investment teams by providing transaction management and/or solutions from an operational perspective, especially for complex deal closing activities

  • Develop partnerships and ensure effective stakeholder management across multi-functions during  front-mid-back deal closing/execution activities

  • Monitor investment receipts and ensuring accurate and complete data inputs within the firm’s systems; coordinate with investment teams (and/or asset management teams) on outstanding/delayed receipts and collaborate where required to resolve breaks

  • Attend Transaction Advisory Committee meetings (or any other deal-related meetings where applicable) and collaborate across functions to ensure smooth deal closing and execution

  • Maintain and review MIS reports for various investment related controls and datapoints to ensure robust investment monitoring throughout the deal lifecycle

  • Assist in scaling long term capabilities, that includes technology applications for deal closing activities to be executed in an efficient and effective manner

  • Work closely with management to establish and implement strong processes, and robust operating models, systems and governance across front-mid-back offices in deal execution activities

  • Any other operational duties required of the individual as part of the Investment Operations team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or post-graduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in investment operations, specifically with competencies in transaction management, deal closing & execution and operational monitoring for private markets in Asia

  • Professional accounting qualifications preferred

  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate and deliver results effectively

  • Self-starter, adaptable, can-do attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn, skepticism and logical thinking is critical to succeed in the role

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, energetic environment

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across levels of the organization

  • Strong team player and able to collaborate within the team and across functions; engages others constructively with an open mind

  • Strong multi-tasking and project management skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Knowledge of legal entity set ups and fund structures (Asia specific) would be preferred
