Overview:
Ares Management is seeking a Vice President to join the Global Allocations Team within the Corporate Strategy Group in New York.
The Corporate Strategy Group partners directly with the firm’s Executive Chairman, CEO, Co-Presidents, and business group leadership on the firm’s most critical strategic initiatives. The Global Allocations Team is responsible for the design and oversight of Ares’ firmwide investment allocation framework, ensuring disciplined capital deployment across the platform.
This role will play a central part in building, rolling out and operating the firm’s centralized allocation infrastructure, working closely with legal, compliance and investment teams across Credit, Private Equity, Real Assets, and Secondaries to optimize capital allocation, manage portfolio constraints, and ensure adherence to fund mandates. This role will involve new process creation and implementation as part of the buildout of the newly centralized global team.
The position offers broad exposure to the firm’s investment platform and senior leadership, and sits at the intersection of investing, portfolio construction, and firmwide strategy.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- Lead key components of Ares’ Global Allocations initiative, including the development of governance frameworks, processes, and systems supporting centralized investment allocations across the platform.
- Oversee U.S. investment allocations across Credit, Private Equity, Real Assets and Secondaries strategies, ensuring alignment with fund mandates, portfolio construction objectives, and enterprise priorities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the Ares fund complex, advising senior stakeholders on allocation decisions, portfolio capacity, and policy considerations.
- Conduct pre-trade allocation and compliance analysis, including review of concentration limits, sector and geographic eligibility, and available portfolio capacity.
- Lead portfolio and allocation reviews, identifying risks, constraints, and optimization opportunities across strategies.
- Partner closely with Deal Teams, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Legal, Business Development, and Operations to ensure disciplined execution of allocation decisions.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required
- 5–7+ years of relevant experience in investing, portfolio management, investment allocations, or portfolio compliance.
- Strong familiarity with credit and alternative investment structures, including bank loans, credit agreements, indentures, LPAs, and PPMs.
- Experience with alternative credit transactions, including privately negotiated investments, bank debt, bonds, CLO equity, and other fixed income products.
- Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative investment environment.
- High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$200,000 - $220,000
