Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Portfolio Analyst & Trader to join NB's European Non-Investment Grade Fixed Income Team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team based in London with responsibilities primarily in trade modelling, implementation and execution in European High Yield Bonds and European Leveraged Loans.
This role will suit someone looking to build a career within a fast growing European team, at a leading institution with over $50bn in assets within Non-Investment Grade Credit globally. Development and progression will be fast paced under the mentorship of the existing seasoned team of traders, portfolio managers and credit analysts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team as a key support for the European non-investment portfolio managers and traders
- Serve as point person in the trade order management and portfolio management process, from trade and risk modelling, to order creation and execution in coordination with portfolio managers and traders
- Ensure orders are in compliance with client guidelines and coordinate with legal and compliance teams to resolve issues
- Counterparty and stakeholder management, providing commentary on relevant market color to the desk
- Collaborate with the client service team to provide accurate and timely information as required by clients, and assist in business development
- Attend daily meetings with traders and portfolio managers, receive mentorship from seasoned professionals and collaborate with many business units across the organization, creating opportunities to grow within the team or the wider fixed income business
- Drive business development opportunities across European credit markets by cultivating relationships with syndicate desks, partner with credit analysts, PM’s and traders to source primary market opportunities
Key Requirements / Qualifications: (essential unless otherwise stated)
- 2-5 years relevant finance experience
- Interest in financial markets, macroeconomics and investing; familiarity with Leveraged Finance markets recommended
- Advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with Bloomberg and Aladdin desirable
- Previous relevant asset management or sell-side experience desirable but not essential
- Strong analytical skills, capable of solving problems within finite deadlines while operating effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated interest in applying AI, data analytics and process automation to improve investment workflows, information management and team productivity
- Relevant financial degree from a leading university
- CFA charter holder or evidence of participation in the CFA program is desirable but not essential
